Awards

Awards are given out to Mansquad members for the following reasons:

  • Participation in a divisional event, such as a bivouac
  • Achievement or merit from a competition
  • Length of membership (1, 5, 10 year, etc)
  • Other items approved by the divisional leadership

These awards and badges are worn on the front of the MAN CARD. Subsequent awards of the same type are indicated by the addition of a silver star atop the badge for each subsequent award. After five awards/badges are earned, a gold star replaces the silver star.

The current authorized awards and merits are (in order of importance/rank):

  • Inagural Bivouac Attendee Inaugural Bivouac Attendee – Member attended the inaugural bivouac
  • Purple Thumb Purple Thumb – Member sustained serious injury during the course of a Mansquad event
  • Voyager Voyager Badge – Member traveled the greatest distance to attend a bivouac
  • Top Gun Top Gun Badge – Member of winning team for competitive Paintball event
  • Horseshoe Horseshoe Champion – Member of winning team for competitive Horseshoes event
  • Bivouacer Bivouacer Badge – Member camped at bivouac “under the stars”, or, without a tent
  • Pistol Pistol Qualification Badge – Demonstrated ability to safely handle and fire pistol (revolver or automatic). Automatically given for members who are or were part of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or Marines)
  • Rifle Rifle Qualification Badge – Demonstrated ability to safely handle and fire rifle. Automatically given for members who are or were part of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or Marines)
  • Boatswain Boatswain Badge – Demonstrated ability to tie bowline, two half hitches, square/reef knot, overhand knot and clove hitch -OR- have been a member of Boy Scouts of America or Cub Scouts of America.
